Day of Compassion

Day of Compassion

Myself and Ben led a group into an area of East J-city yesterday as a conclusion to our conference. We went and played with these kids and had a good time just showing His love to them in a tangible way. We
were told that we couldn’t talk to the Big Guy for people while we were in that area, so that added a little bit of a challenge. We taught english, did some songs, played games and had a lot of fun with the kids. I also took lots of pictures, so you should check them out.
One of the highlights for me was talking to a woman who, I was told, was 130 years old. I couldn’t believe it. she was outside walking around and talking with one of the girls on my team. I have a picture of her in my photstream on flickr, also of her feet. Pretty amazing. We did talk to the Big Guy on behalf of her because she asked us to. She was a Christian, so Monich talked with her for a long time. It was just cool to see the variation of age in this little area. really young to really old, and He cares so much for all of them. Our team was amazing and jumped right in to what He wanted to do. We had a guitar, so they started playing songs and singing with the kids and candy came from one of them too, so we were able to give that out as prizes. I had a really good time and it was just a taste of what the next couple of months will look like around here. It got me so excited. I can’t wait to go out and do more.

Today we had a down day. We had pancakes at noon (when we all got up) and then had singing, a message, and talking with the big Guy… you put that all together and you get what you normally do on a Sunday. Then we had our one-on-one times with the leaders that we have each week. It was good to talk about what is going on and how I am doing with them. We haven’t met in like 3 weeks, where we usually meet weekly.

We also were able to move into the other apartment that has more space for everyone. So now we don’t have 20 people living in a 3 bedroom apartment. We have 9 in one and 11 in the other. PTL! AND I’m in the one with a shower, no more bucket showers! Don’t worry, it’s still cold. That’s all for now, we’re having a birthday party tonight for Kim, a girl who was added to our team for a couple of months while here in j- city. Pizza and fun are on the docket, I’m excited. Thanks for reading and for trying to understand my code words!

  1. Your pictures are great! The kids are so precious – glad you got to have fun with them, and just love on them – it “speaks” so much to their hearts. Sleeping in and showers sound like a huge blessing after this last week 🙂 Hugs
